Guilder Coffee Company in the Alameda Neighborhood of Portland, OR, is a delightful escape for coffee enthusiasts and food lovers alike. This cozy café, located at 2393 NE Fremont St, boasts a charming Scandinavian interior that invites patrons to relax and savor their experience. Visitors have praised the excellent coffee, which showcases a commitment to quality, yet some have noted that it doesn’t quite reach the pinnacle of craft coffee. The menu features a variety of enticing options, from the comforting Simple & Sweet Porridge to the savory delight of caramelized onion porridge topped with pecorino. Many reviewers celebrate the breakfast offerings, particularly the lox bagel and parfait, marking them as standouts. While the food quality is largely commendable, there have been occasional hiccups with orders, leading to instances of running out of popular items. Despite these minor setbacks, the warm and friendly staff enhance the overall experience, with patrons appreciating the inviting atmosphere that balances liveliness and peace. The café's communal vibe, paired with its cute neighborhood setting and ample seating, makes it a perfect spot for studying or catching up with friends. Guilder Coffee Company checks all the boxes for a neighborhood coffee shop, combining excellent brews, delightful food, and a welcoming environment that leaves customers eager to return.

Nice place. A bit crowded at times snd they run out of food items. I was able to snag a bagel with cheese but all patty were gone by 11 am. There seating upstairs and outside. Nice friendly staff.

Been here a bunch, as it's across from my kid's school. Some hiccups with food orders, bunch largely delicious. Parfait and lox bagel are both great. Coffee/espresso options are pretty darn good. For how much cupping and craft they put on display, it's not peak... But it's pretty darn good. Service is kinda hit or miss. Sometimes super friendly/gracious, and sometimes you feel like it would be better if there were no customers in the world. Not even a specific personnel thing, just changes with the wind. If you can roll with mid service experience, and slowish Wi-Fi, all good.

Excellent coffee, beautiful minimalist and airy scandinavian interior, extensive food and drink menu, a lot of seating to study or hang out, super friendly staff. Oh, and did I mention very cute neighborhood with tons of parking. To sum it up, this place checks all boxes of a neighborhood coffee shop.

So good! Really cute themed references for a fan but not in your face/over the top. Food was delicious, service was warm and friendly. Beckett in particular was so sweet and helpful with recommendations! The space was also very cozy. Wish I lived here and could come more often.

The staff here are super nice & professional. I come here daily for coffee, but the food is amazing too, if you’re a breakfast-oriented person. The atmosphere is both lively & peaceful.

As someone who is by NO MEANS a vegetarian, much less a vegan, I have to say this place is amazing! If you wouldn't have told me my breakfast burrito was vegan (yes I added egg) I wouldn't have even known. No, I'm not being converted from being a carnivore. The veggies were cooked perfectly, still had just enough crunch and they weren't mush. The ethically sourced coffee was stupendous! Knowledgeable baristas that had my espresso at the perfect temp, were super pleasurable to just chat with. Big time LGBTQIA friendly, feel free to ask for proper pronouns Gotta say, the Princess Bride references are what brought me here. The food and folks working here will bring me back. Some days I go to places like Fogo de Chao, other days I find awesome little gems like Guilder.

Great coffee and service. Excellent selection of coffee beans. Princess Bride theme is kind of clever. Wish we could enjoy the upstairs seating. There is outdoor tables for 2-3 people

Guilder is a central heartbeat in the neighborhood. The baristas recognize the regulars and are so kind. I always run into people I know there, it’s a great spot for coffee meetings, working, or a family hang out on the front patio for people watching on Fremont. The new food menu is delicious. They held some old favorites and added some delicious new options. The coffee is excellent and always has been the bar for coffee in Portland. The same experts are roasting so that has not changed. When I met the new owners they have a vision for it as a communal space and were amazing hosts for a women’s networking event I put on there and have been showcasing local artists on the walls all in the support of other small businesses in Portland. I Guilder.
